Gnanasara, the main suspects behind last week anti-Muslim riots in Kandy, was among several other Buddhist monks who had been invited to a series of meetings with president Mithripala Sirisena in Tokyo today.
The Buddhist extremist monk attended a discussion that took place under the auspices of the President. Many in the country are in shock as this has taken place just a week after the anti-Muslim riots by Buddhist extremist in Kandy. Muslim-owned houses, shops and mosques were set alight by the mobs and rioting monks.
The President is currently on an officially visit to Japan, along with Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Malik Samarawickrama and Thilak Marapana.
